About Me
Accepting New Patients!
I specialize in cognitive-behavioral therapy for clients coping with stress, anxiety, and burnout. I can help you with issues like worry, tension, and exhaustion, as well as career related counseling. Physical health can be an important component of mental wellbeing, and I enjoy helping my clients establish effective exercise and movement habits that work for their lives.
I also support people in cultivating meaningful relationships with friends, family, and partners by processing fears and insecurities that may be getting in the way of connection and intimacy.
I completed my PHD in clinical psychology at the University of Virginia in 2012 and have been in practice ever since. Before opening my own practice, I worked as a therapist in universities, schools, and skilled nursing facilities.
When I'm not working, you can often find me playing the guitar or bouzouki, walking in the city or on local trails, writing historical fiction, and petting my cat.

Therapy is a place where you can share openly and honestly about your life, your challenges, your fears, your hopes and dreams, and know that it will be held in confidence by someone who is looking out for your best interest. As a licensed clinical psychologist, I am trained and skilled in providing tools, strategies, and steps that will support you in moving forward in your life in a positive way.

For some, the initial session can feel like the load they are carrying is a little lighter and the relief is felt within the first several sessions. For others, it can take a little longer to really get to the heart of the focus area and to build the trust that will facilitate a therapeutic relationship. While therapy is different for everyone, many clients have shared that they feel a shift within the first 6 - 8 weeks.
For some clients, therapy is a short focused program to address a specific challenge and once this is addressed, clients either close out or continue with less frequent sessions to receive ongoing support with maintaining the change in their lives.
For many, having a regular therapy touchpoint (be it weekly, biweekly, or via a schedule created by the therapist and client) feels the most supportive. This provides a container for ongoing processing and support towards each client's goals.

I love being on the water and used to be an avid white water kayaker. One of my first jobs was as a kayak guide.
